Welcome to UNIP,
a network on innovation and professional development in TVET

UNIP at present is a partnership activity of UNESCO-UNEVOC and TVET scientists from all over the world, which was initiated in Hangzhou, China at the UNESCO International Seminar on Innovation and Excellence in TVET Teacher/Trainer Education on November 10th, 2004. This network has dedicated itself to
  • facilitate discussions on the development, the tasks, structure, and organization of a future International Association of TVET Science,
  • initiate the implementation of the association,
  • facilitate discussions on the implementation of master level degrees in TVET on the international as well as the regional level, and support the worldwide exchange of information on those processes,
  • prepare an international follow-up conference, where good and best practice examples should be exchanged and the progress in creating the international scientific community should be discussed.

Colombo Workshop Report available
News The report on the Workshop on "Innovation and Internationalisation in the Qualification of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Experts", which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, 22 – 25 November 2006, organised by the Department of Technical Education and Training of Sri Lanka (DTET), German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the United TVET Network on Innovation and Professional Development (UNIP), and UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training now is avalable for download:

Tianjin Conference Publication
News Thanks to InWEnt, UNESCO-UNEVOC, and the contributors to the conference, the keynotes and papers of the International Conference on Development and Implementation of a Master Degree Standard for Teacher and Trainer Education in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in East and South East Asia have been collected, revised and published in the book:

Frank Bünning, Zhiqun Zhao: TVET Teacher Education on the Threshold of Internationalisation. Bonn 2006.

The book is also online available as pdf document on the website of UNESCO-UNEVOC.

Conferences: Workshop on the Qualification of TVET Experts
Events A workshop entitled "Innovation and Internationalisation in the Qualification of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Experts" adressing Asia and South Asia will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from November 22nd until November 25th 2006. The workshop is jointly organised by the Department of Technical Education and Training of Sri Lanka (DTET), the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the United Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Network on Innovation and Professional Development (UNIP), and UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and

tVetWiki - New Wiki on TVET Research and Development
News Just recently a Wiki was launched for the purpose of community research in TVET.

The introduction to the Wiki reads as follows:

The original idea was to create an open workspace to promote intercultural understanding of terms and concepts that are related to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). For this purpose we have launched the first working area 'Concepts and terminologies'.

UNIP-Europe: Report on the outcomes of the Working Conference in Oslo (6.2.-7.2.2006)
News The European working conference of the UNIP network was organised in Oslo on 6.2.-7.2.2006 jointly with the Akershus University College (HIAK) and the UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre. The conference took decisions to launch the European section of the UNIP network (UNIP-Europe) and elected a Regional Board. Prof. Anne-Lise Höstmark-Tarrou from HIAK was elected as the first chair and Pekka Kämäräinen as the secretary. The concluding session approved also an Action Plan for the year 2006 and agreed on the joint Oslo Memorandum.

New Information on the European Working Conference (Oslo 2006, 6.2.-7.2) available
News The UNIP network organises in collaboration with the UNECO-UNEVOC Centre and the Arkershus University College (HIAK) a joint working conference on February 6 and 7, 2006 in Lilleström, Norway (near Oslo Airport). More information (new as of January 23rd) is available in the Conference Section as well as in the Download Section UNIP Europe.

Information on Asian Hangzhou follow-up conference available
News Now further information is available on the Asian Hangzhou follow-up conference "Development and Implementation of a Master Degree Standard for Teacher and Trainer Education in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in East and South East Asia", which will be held at Tianjin University from December 9 to 10.

European Hangzhou follow-up conference postponed
Events Because beginning of December seems to be a very busy period for interested individuals, the European working conference on the international Masters Framework for TVET teachers (MF-TT) titled "Promoting professionalisation and innovations in teacher education for technical and vocational education and training (TVET)" had to be postponed. The new dates for the conference are Monday, February 6th and Tuesday February 7th at Akershus University College (HIAK).

Events An International Conference on Development and Implementation of a Master Degree Standard for Teacher and Trainer Education in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in East and South East Asia will take place in Tianjin, China, December 9-10, 2005.
